Now I can search off-line and then connect the right drive. The main aspect for me is to find things without having to connect lots of drives because I'm not sure where it could be. There's one that looked interesting called 'Archive 7' but it's only sold via the app store and they don't have a demo so I skipped that one. I've been scanning a few drives with NeoFinder over the last few days and think it does what I want.Ĭompared to DCM it still is slow as a snail whens scanning (even with the most simple scan prefs) but maintaining is better under NF.ĭCM takes an average of 3-5 seconds even on the biggest drives with more than 150k files and hundreds of folders/subfolders while NF needs 15-20 Minutes but it's not a huge deal unless you have to scan 20 drives to create an initial database. (I also use chronosync but it also has it's pitfalls when you are used to Retrospect) Yes, BU and catalog on the same ticket but I moved away from proprietary BU formats. With CD Catalog Expert, you can save the drive to a text format - and later browse or search. This is useful if you want to keep track of a vast CD collection. You're right, it's not exactly the same, but it works. DVD/CD catalog is a Windows application, designed to organize and maintain a catalog of your computer media collection, including CD-ROMs, hard drives, audio CDs, MP3s, removable disks. Retrospect does function as disk cataloging app because it keeps a searchable catalog of the contents of every archive.
